Cockfosters Depot

RLA have been commissioned by TfL to refurbish Cockfosters Depot, adjacent to the Grade 11* Listed Oakwood Station built in 1933 by Charles Holden.

The approach to the design of Cockfosters Depot references the distinctive double volume ticket hall by Holden at Oakwood Station in which a series of low structures surround a grand central hall. Inspired by classical formal arrangements and the brick built civic buildings of Willem Marinus Dudok in the Netherlands, Holden sought to create quietly dignified expression for station architecture across the London transport network is it expanded throughout the 1930’s.

RLA have subsequently been commissioned to refurbish Northfields Depot in west London.
